U samom srcu Toskane, na nekih 40-ak kilometara od Firence nalazi se možda i najfascinantnije remek-djelo arhitekture u Italiji, zamak Sammezzano.
Zašto najfascinantnije?
Zato što nikada ne biste očekivali da u sred Toskane otkrijete jedan Orijent. A ovaj zamak je jedno od tri zdanja unutar Italije koja su urađena u arapskom stilu.
Posjeta zamku Sammezzano odvešće vas do Maroka, preko Kine do Indije, jer ćete se diviti detaljima koji će vas podsjećati na arhitekturu arapskih i azijskih zemalja.
Castello di Sammezzano
Istorija ovog mjesta vjerovatno počinje u rimsko doba. Tada je u njemu prema mnogim biografima tog perioda, živio i Karlo Veliki, prvi car zapadne Evrope nakon propasti Zapadnog rimskog carstva.
Nakon toga. među slavnim vlasnicima zamka bili su Kozimo i Đovani Mediči.
Ipak, sadašnji izgled zamak dobija tek sredinom 19. vijeka kada ga kupuje španski plemić Ferdinando Ximenes d’Aragon (1813. – 1897.).
Početkom 18. vijeka, kulturni talas „orijentalizma“ proširio se Evropom
Firenca i zamak di Sammezzano predstavaljaju jedan primjer arapskog uticaja, dok je drugi primjer svakako tvrđava Rocchetta Mattei, koja se nalazi blizu Bolonje.
Ferdinando koji je od rođenja živio u Firenci, je pod uticajem ovog kulturnog talasa, modifikovao postojeći zamak Castello di Sammezzano.
Tada su pod njegovim instrukcijama dodate nove dvorane i sobe, koje su zamku dale potpuno drugačiji izgled.
Iako nije imao diplomu, Ferdinando je imao sposobnosti geologa, arhitekte i inženjera. Ujedno je smatran za vrlo ekscentričnog čoveka tako da je mogao samostalno da planira i obnovi Castello di Sammezzano.
Unutrašnjost je urađena totalno u maorskom stilu i podsjeća na detalje koje možete vidjeti u palati Alhambra, koja se nalazi u Granadi.
Ximenes nije samo redizajnirao i proširio postojeću zgradu, već je planirao i veliko područje oko dvorca koje karakteriše bujna šuma zimzelenih hrastova i sekvoja. Ovaj park smatra se jednim od najljepših i najveći na prostoru cijele Toskane.
Paunova soba – najljepša prostorija Sammezzana
U zamku se nalazi čak 365 soba i ne zna se koja je ljepša. Ipak, ako biste pitali one koji su posjetili zamak koja im je najljepša, vjerujemo da bi vam svi u glas rekli – Paunova soba!
Ime je dobila jer po dekoru i bojama koje podsjećaju na raskošnog pauna.
Zanimljivo je da je Ferdinando rijetko bacao stvari koje nije koristio, pa je u ovoj sobi odlučio da na zid postavi kineski pribor koji su mu dali neki španski plemići.
Napušten dvije decenije…
Za vrijeme II svjetskog rata, Njemci su dosta oštetili zamak i odnijeli sa sobom veliki broj skulptura iz parka.
Sedamdesetih godina prošlog vijeka Castello di Sammezzano je bio pretvoren u hotel-restoran. Nažalost, hotel je propao početkom 90-ih.
Punih deset godina zamak je bio bez vlasnika. Tek 1999. godine kupuje ga jedna grupacija engleskog i italijanskog kapitala sa ciljem da ga pretvori u luksuzno odmaralište.
Nažalost, ni ta firma nije uspjela da povrati sjaj dvorcu koji je i dalje bio napušten, oronuo i često na meti lokalnih lopova i beskućnika.
Prije sedam godina jedna neprofitna, lokalna organizacija uspjela je da podigne svijest o napuštenom zamku u javnosti. Međutim, sem dozvole da u njemu prave turističke ture, ni oni nisu uspjeli da spasu ovaj zamak.
Poslije toga još jedan pokušaj stranih investitora je propao, a budućnost zamka je i dalje nejasna. Prosto je nevjerovatno da ovako prelijepo i značajno djelo istorije i arhitekture trune decenijama…
