Sve od italijanske rivijere pa do Sicilije nalazi se mnošvo mjesta sa predivnim plažama, antičkim ruševinama, bogatom kulturnom ponudom i izvrsnom lokalnom kuhinjom.
Ako ste se nekada zadesili u Rimu tokom avgusta sigurno ste se pitali gdje su svi lokalci nestali. Čuveni italijanski ferogosto je u avgustu i tada skoro svi stanovnici velikih gradova odlaze negdje na obalu u neki od prelijepih gradova gdje provode cijeli svoj godišnji odmor. Zbog toga su italijanske plaže tokom avgusta krcate turistima.
Pozitano (Positano)
Neće biti pretjerivanje ako se kaže za Pozitano da je jedan od najljepših
gradova na svijetu. Dodali bismo i najfotografisanijih. Gradić na obali Amalfi
očarava putnike pastelno okrečenim kućama načičkanim uz strmu planinsku padinu
iznad mora. Veoma stari grad, koji je pripadao Vojvodstvu Amalfi (Republika
Amalfi) i glavna trgovačka luka u vrijeme renesanse, danas je jedan od
najpopularnijih plažnih destinacija.
Ravelo (Ravello)
Još jedan gradić na obali Amalfi privlači pažnju turista. Ravelo, za koga
francuski književnik Andre Žid kaže da je bliže nebu nego moru, možda je čak i
nepravedno zapostavljen u odnosu na daleko poznatiji Pozitano. Gradić se nalazi
visoko u planini, na preko 360 metara iznad nivoa mora, odakle se pruža
predivan pogled na cijeli zaliv Salerno. Poznat je po vrtovima i vilama čuvenih
aristokratskih porodica koje vode porijeklo iz XII vijeka kada je Amalfi bio
zasebna Republika. Bio je i inspiracija mnogim umjetnicima poput Virdžinije
Vulf, Huana Miroa, Tenesi Vilijamsa ili Ričarda Vagnera.
Kapri (Capri)
Ostrvo Kapri je nekada bilo omiljeno ljetovalište rimskih imperatora, a ime mu
je nastalo od krda divljih koza koje su ga nekada naseljavale. Omiljeno je
dnevno izletište za mnogobrojne turiste koji ovdje dolaze brodovima iz Napulja
i sa obale Amalfi, pa se po njihovom odlasku uveče isprazni i predstavlja
idealno mjesto za odmor u tišini. Ostrvo je poznato širom svijeta po svojoj ljepoti.
Manarola (Manarola)
Jedan od pet gradića koji se nalaze na poznatoj obali Cinque Terre na
italijanskoj rivijeri je Manarola, možda najživopisniji od svih. Cijelo naselje
je izgrađeno na crnoj stijeni, a njegove šarene kuće okružuju malu marinu i
predstavljaju jednu od najupečatljivijih slika Italije. Mjestašce datira još od
XII vijeka. Glavna znamenitost je crkva San Lorenzo iz XIV vijeka, a turistima
je posebno zanimljivo da obilaze okolne vinograde i maslinjake.
Porto Erkole (Porto Ercole)
Iako je Toskana poznata po srednjovijekovnim gradovima i putevima oivičenim
čempresima, ona ima i veliku i prelijepu obalu. Na pola puta od Firence do Rima
nalazi se Porto Erkole (Herkulesova luka). U gradiću je sahranjen Karavađo.
Venecijanski Lido (Lido di Venezia)
Venecijanski lido je plaža koja je poznata kao kupalište još od 1800. godine
kada ju je posjetio Lord Bajron, koga smatraju prvim stranim turistom na Lidu.
Plaža je duga preko 11 kilometara i poznata je kao lukuzna destinacija koju posjećuju
slavni i bogati. Njemački pisac Tomas Man je na Lido smjestio radnju svog
romana Smrt u Veneciji.
Portofino (Portofino)
Za Portofino se pročulo kada su pedesetih godina ovdje boravile zvijezde poput
Hemfrija Bogarta, Klerk Gejbla, Elizabet Tejlor i Sofije Loren. Gradić je i
danas omiljen među poznatima, pa se na njegovim uskim uličicama mogu sresti
Madona, Kejt Blanšet, Hajdi Klum ili Gvinet Paltrou. Mjesto je tipično ribarsko
selo, koje su kroz istoriju mnogi osvajali pa čak i gusari u XVI vijeku.
Sperlonga (Sperlonga)
Na pola puta između Rima i Napulja je šarmantan gradić Sperlonga, nekada dom
rimskog imperatora Tiberijusa. U njegovoj bivšoj vili je danas muzej sa brojnim
skulpturama.
Ponca (Ponza)
Ostrvo u Tirenskom moru između Rima i Napulja je omiljena destinacija za bijeg
Rimljana od gradske gužve. Ostrvo je imenovino po Pontiju Pilatu, a poznato je
kao mjesto brojnih arheoloških nalazišta i prelijepih plaža.
Ačireale (Acireale)
Sicilijanski grad Ačireale je nešto posebno. Nastao je na vulkanskoj stijeni sa
planine Etna, a plaže su mu kamene. Iako nisu baš pogodne za sunčanje i
izležavanje one predstavljaju jedinstveno iskustvo. Grad je poznat po baroknim
crkvama i parkovima.
Polinjano a Mare (Polignano a Mare)
Pulja je još uvijek misterija, pošto stranci još uvijek ne dolaze u ovu regiju
u većem broju. Ali oni koji su je posjetili imaju samo riječi hvale. Predivne
plaže, kristalno čisto more, opušteni lokalci. Polinjano a mare je idilično
primorsko selo, smješteno na krečnjačkoj litici iznad Jadranskog mora. Idealna
je baza za obilazak Pulje.
Otranto
Gradić u regiji Leće, koji je dao ime Otrantskom prolazu kojim je Jadran spojen
sa ostatkom Sredozemnog mora, je nastao u antičko doba kao grčka kolonija. Kažu
da je po vedrom danu moguće vidjeti albansku obalu. Plaže su izvanredne, a grad
je poznat i po srednjovijekovnoj tvrđavi.
Numana (Numana)
Potpuno van svih turističkih tokova, Numana pleni mirom i tišinom. Bez
uobičajene gužve, ovo malo mjesto na Jadranu, može da se pohvali svojom ljepotom.
Nekada davno ovdje je bilo sjedište biskupije, a veleljepni biskupski dvor u
gradu sada je muzej.
La Madalena (La Maddalena)
Između Korzike i Sardinije se nalazi arhipelag Madalena, poznat po sjajnim
plažama. Granitna ostrva čine nestvaran pejzaž, a gradić La Madalena

Algero (Alghero)
