Izveštaj UNWTO-a otkriva da je 44% globalnih destinacija uvelo zabranu ulazaka iz određenih zemalja.
„Covid-19 je uticao na putovanja i turizam kao nijedan drugi događaj u istoriji“, rekao je generalni sekretar UNWTO-a Zurab Pololikašvili.
Većina stranih vlada je postavila javno zdravstvo na prvo mjesto i uvela puna ili djelimična ograničenja putovanja. Sa suspenzijom turizma, ovaj sektor je doveden u opasnost. Očekivanja su da bude više miliona gubitaka radnih mjesta, kao i zaustavljanje ekonomskog rasta.
Ograničenja su u mnogim oblicima: zatvorene su granice, putnici koji su posjetili određena žarišta „Covid-19“ su smješteni u karantin, a većina međunarodnih letova je obustavljena.
