Prvi put otkako je tragični požar „progutao“ katedralu Notr Dam, njena prednja „vrata“ su od petka otvorena za javnost.

Trg ispred glavnog ulaza katedrale bio je zatvoren za posjetioce od aprila 2019. godine.

Tada je strašan plamen uništio veći dio čuvene katedrale i njene okoline.

Prema pisanju The Associated Press-a, otvaranje je bilo moguće tek nakon masovnog čišćenja i uklanjanja otrovne olovne prašine koja se zadržala nakon požara.

Lokalitet će se kontinuirano čistiti i nadgledati zbog javnog zdravlja tokom obnove katedrale.

Međutim, vjerovatno će proći barem još nekoliko godina prije nego što se obnova u potpunosti završi, a Notr Dam opet bude otvorena za javnost.

Dok Pariz čeka da se ponovo otvori jedan od njegovih simbola, u prednjem dijelu zgrade mogla bi biti postavljena manja kapela.

Pariski nadbiskup Mišel Aupetit rekao je za EuroNews da bi se ispred katedrale moglo nalaziti nešto „skromnije“, kao što je prikaz Djevice Marije, gdje bi se vjernici mogli moliti.

Kapela je trebala da se postavi ranije ove godine, ali je taj potez odložen zbog pandemije COVID-19.

„Obnova Notr Dam katedrale pokazuje našu sposobnosti da prevaziđemo velike izazive“, rekao je predsjednik Emanuel Makron nedavno, u video obraćanju povodom jednogodišnje godišnjice u aprilu.

Početkom godine saznali smo da je 50 odsto katedrale oštećeno u požaru, te da će biti prilično teško obnoviti je i vratiti u prvobitno stanje.
