Kada pomislite na Pariz ne vjerujemo da vam među prvim asocijacijama iskoči Palais Garnier. I to je sasvim razumljivo kada znamo da su Ajfelova kula, Luvr i Notr Dam daleko popularnije i posjećenije atrakcije francuske prijestolnice.

Međutim, ko god je bar jednom kročio u čuvenu parisku operu koja može da primi 2.200 posjetilaca, ostao je pod utiskom da u ljepše zdanje nije kročio. I to ne samo u Parizu, već i u cijelom svijetu!

Iako, po njenoj spoljašnjosti to ne bi se dalo zaključiti. Palais Garnier spolja mnogima liči na kitnjastu svadbenu tortu sa pozlaćenom fasadom.

Posljednje remek-djelo barona Osmana koji je „preuredio“ Pariz za vrijeme Drugog carstva pod Napoleonom III

Palata Garnier je otvorena 15. januara 1875. godine.

Inauguracija zdanja označila je kraj ambiciozne urbanizacije grada od strane barona Osmana. Ali i prijelaz sa sociokulture na Bel Epok. Građevinu u neo-baroknom stilu je izgradio mladi arhitekta Šarl Garnier po kojem je palata i nazvana.

Danas se pariska opera smatra za jednu od najposjećenijih na svijetu, a samo zdanje za remek-djelo arhitekture druge polovine 19. vijeka.

Zanimljivo je da je jedno vrijeme direktor Pariskog baleta bio čuveni Rudolf Nurijev. Bilo je to u periodu od 1983. do 1989. godine.

Raskošna fasada i ekstravagantna unutrašnjost

Pozlaćenu fasadu palate čini niz provokativnih statua, brojne lampe, lukovi i stubovi. Naravno, u fokusu eksterijera je bakarna kupola koja zasjenjuje sve detalje. Ipak, za mnoge ova fasada je previše kitnjasta, dok je unutrašnjost veličanstvena.

Zapravo, mnogi smatraju da je Versaj skromno ukrašen u poređenju sa palatom Garnier.

Prvo što posjetioci primjete je Veliko stepenište, vrlo raskošno ukrašeno sa statuama i reljefima, te velikim lusterima i bijelim mermernim podom.

Ono vodi u Veliki foaje, gdje se nalaze pozlaćena ogledala, mermerni pod, masivni lusteri kao i murali i staklo iz Murana. Foaje je za mnoge najljepša prostorija palate.

Impresivan je i kitnjasti auditorijum sa dekoracijama od zlatnog lišća, crvenim sjedištima od pliša, nestvarnom tavanicom koju je oslikao Šagal i kristalnim lusterom.

Takođe, u zgradi se nalazi i biblioteka i muzej.

Ispred palate se nalazi spomenik Sergeju Djagiljevu

Godišnje se u palati Garnier održi 300 predstava, a samu palatu posjeti više od 700.000 posjetilaca. Na ovoj sceni igrala je i velika Ana Pavlova, ali i sjajni Vaclav Nižinski. Kostime za baletane i operske pjevače pravili su između ostalog i Pablo Pikaso i Koko Šanel.

Ipak, Pariz najviše pamti Sergeja Djagiljeva, koji je organizovao čuvene „ruske“ sezone početkom 20. vijeka koje su osvojile Parižane. Osnivaču baletske trupe Ballets Russes, 2009. godine podignut je spomenik koji se nalazi ispred same palate.
